Social Minefield: How To Properly Feed Your Guests

OK so I love jezebel.com. LOVE LOVE LOVE it. It's a feminist blog and it's just downright funny, insightful, creative and I really enjoy reading it. I follow them on facebook. I follow their RSS feed in my google reader. I just can't get enough.

So when this article came up - I nearly peed my pants in excitement and shared it on every social networking site I could - it's called "How to Properly Feed Your Guests" and the description reads:

Thanksgiving is coming up, and with it the inevitable questions about food: how to accommodate the vegan, gluten-free, or otherwise dietarily restricted person on your guest list? And what if you are that person? Read on for some answers.

The number of people on special diets for any number of reasons (health, religious reasons, food sensitivities, food allergies, etc.) is ever increasing - and the dialogue between hostess/host and guest has to be open. And it can only be open if there is mutual respect. No, I don't expect you to have a totally different menu because I am attending, but yes it would be nice to be reassured that I can eat *some* of the food you are serving.

And you know what - most people (OK well, my friends are just awesome I'll be honest so I'm judging based on their level of fabulousity!) are really eager to make sure that you can eat what they're serving.

But anyhow - this article has great advice on a number of diet restrictions and should be like, required reading for any entertaining IMO! ;)
